The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever. It is an underwater museum where limitless exploration unfolds. We find our true self, in this most unknown. Everything else in life quite literally floats away as you dive below. The sense of never ending wonder tempts me back, time and time again.

Laurel Blue has and continues to be the conceptualization of my affinity towards the ocean. From exploring the myriad of textures to a post-apocalyptic fantasy where we are to live as hybrids underwater I have continued to excavate.

Much like a humble visitor to any ordinary museum, I gave agency only to myself in this most special of museums. It was always me looking at them. The sea is as near as we come to another world. Here, I am but a visitor for I cannot stay below for long. For this Laurel Blue, I ponder this two way interaction. When I gaze upon its inhabitants, do they in turn, look at me. How am I perceived? A friend or foe, a shadow or a glow. Do I pass by in a blur or am I ever in focus. The scallop usually evokes a juicy, round adductor muscle. Yet, the mollusk possesses 200 eyes and the optics of which are more similar to that of a complex telescope. It is time to see more than just what we see and be looked upon.

The final Laurel Blue

through the lens of the inhabitants of the oceans seeks to develop but also question my relationship with it.
