ARTIST

i am currently an Interactive Telecommunications (ITP) Master's student at NYU and a Parsons School of Design graduate with a BFA in Fashion Design. My education includes an exchange experience in Central Saint Martins' BA Menswear and two transformational years at UWC Atlantic.

I specialize in innovative fashion design technology, with hands-on experience in Adobe Suites. My expertise extends to fashion design, fashion illustration, portfolio building, digital content creation, and marketing.

I co-founded Rockaway Design Consulting with my peer designer from Parsons, where we focus on inspiring creative minds with personal guidance, whether to build portfolios or learn new techniques or for trouble shooting on personal projects.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work for and collaborate with leading international fashion brands across the United States and China, including Proenza Schouler, Halfdays Apparel, RUI, Bad Binch Tong Tong, and Lucency.

My collection, "Laurel Blue," delves into my deep passion for the ocean. As a certified advanced diver, I am fascinated by the relationship between humans and the sea. My BFA thesis collection, "Laurel Blue: I Am the Image, In Their Frame," is crafted from the perspective of sea creatures, exploring how we are perceived by the marine world and challenging my connection to it.

LAUREL BLUE:

KEPLER 138

Introducing laurel blue - Kepler 138, a project that explores the existence ad potential mystical inhabitants of the newly discovered water planets - Kepler 138 d& c. Building upon my previous Laurel Blue collection, which centered around the ocean, this project delves into the theme’s continuous evolution.

Kepler 138 d & c are exoplanets with a density between rocky and gas-giant planets, with a significant volume of water. On Kepler 138, we find planets with gravitational pulls much greater than our own. Lands made mostly water and an atmosphere above boiling point. Therefore, the first signs of life I imagine must be a water specifies with a skeleton made exclusively of cartilage. In my mystical world, I envisage Kepler 138 d & c to have their own unique sharks. Inspired by the survival of sharks, who predated dinosaurs by 200 million years, I imagine the presence of water species on Kepler 138 with cartilage skeletons for buoyancy.

My garments reflect the mystical and majestic nature of these unique sharks and incorporate kinetic sculptures to emulate their movement. The material choices, including thermochromic pu vegan, symbolizing the warmer atmosphere of Kepler 138, showcasing a temperature change through fashion. Through this collection, I aim to present the captivating essence of these mystical animals in a fantastical world, reflecting my profound connection to the ocean and limitless imagination for the future.
